Tire pressure calculator
This tire pressure calculator is based on the formula for pressure per square meter. The tire’s contact patch towards the ground is assumed to have an elliptical shape. Because of this, deviations from the optimal pressure may occur, and the result from this calculator should be used as a starting point for further fine‑tuning.
Rims have a maximum pressure limit, and tires usually have both a maximum and a minimum pressure rating. It is not recommended to exceed the limits of either the rim or the tire.
In many cases, mountain bike tires are somewhat conservative in their lower pressure rating. As a result, many mountain bikers ride with pressures below the stated minimum.
